Liquor Bag Campaign

Upon learning from Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission that they would not be hosting a Liquor Bag Campaign, Safe Community Wood Buffalo decided to run the campaign ourselves for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
The Liquor Bag campaign works with elementary, junior high and high schools to have students create a message on a paper liquor bag related to the dangers of impaired driving. Once students create their messages on the bags, they are delivered to liquor stores during the Christmas period in the student’s community by Safe Community Wood Buffalo.
"Thank you for providing this opportunity for the students to be involved in, this is an important project." -Teacher
In 2021,14 schools participated creating 960 liquor bags which were distributed to five liquor stores in the city. Congratulations to the Beacon Hill Public School Grade 5 class who won a pizza party for their creative designs!

Coaster Contest

Running in conjunction with the Liquor Bag Campaign, Safe Community Wood Buffalo hosts a Coaster Contest. Inviting high school students throughout the RMWB to create a design for a coaster. The winning design is being printed on 2500 coasters which will be distributed to local bars and restaurants, reminding patrons to make safe choices and not drink and drive.
