May, a beautiful time of year here in Wood Buffalo, the perfect time to host Safe Community Wood Buffalo's annual event Family Safety Day! This event is anticipated by young & old throughout the region. An outdoor/indoor showcase of all things safety that includes over 20 industry, social profit & municipal partners with displays covering a range of interactive safety messages. Everything from health & wellness, construction safety, driving simulators, right down to fire trucks, buses & police cruisers to explore While this event is geared mainly toward children ages 0-10, there is truly something for everyone! You can also find a bike rodeo with our helmet exchange program here. Children can bring their expired, broken or outgrown bicycle helmets & trade them in for a brand new helmet! SCWB (Safe Community Wood Buffalo) volunteers properly fit their helmet on the spot. If a child does not have an old helmet to trade, a new one can be purchased for a $10 minimum donation. This well established event is now 22 years old & continues to grow each year with close to 1000 attendees! Watch for details of our upcoming 2021 event!
